How Mike Veny Shows Self Kindness & Why You Should Too

Self Kindness is important. As a mental health speaker, I spend a lot of time sharing with others how to protect their mental health and emotional wellness. Learning how to be kind to yourself is an important part of mental health and self-care. But as someone who can easily switch into “perfectionism mode”, I’m not always kind to myself.

There are two simple things that you can do to start practicing self kindness right away:

Forgive yourself.
Stick to the “good enough” rule

In this video, I share specific examples of what these self kindness tips look like in my own life.

If you’re struggling with stress, perfectionism, anxiety, or other mental or emotional health challenges, these two simple tips can help you be kind to yourself today.

Shielding your body from stress.

Having a morning routine for stress or morning routine for depression can be a really effective strategy for coping with stress.

There are a lot of stressful things that can come up in a day. If you just allow yourself to go through the day, you may start to feel the impact of stress in your life and on your body. Feeling stressed out or anxious, can leave you with all kinds of mental health and physical health challenges. This is why it’s important to put a morning plan in place.

In this video, I give a brief example of how my morning routine helps me shield myself from the stress of the day.

A morning plan allows you to know exactly how you’re going to start your day no matter what else happens to pop up at the moment. It helps you learn how to deal with anxiety and can change the stress reaction that you have throughout the day. A morning routine is part of a healthy lifestyle.

Are You Feeling Fear, Grief, or Anger? Watch This…

There are 3 emotions that have been wreaking havoc on the world since the pandemic began—fear, grief, and anger.

These three emotions are often referred to as “difficult emotions” or “negative emotions”. An important part of mental health awareness and being emotionally well is learning how to recognize your emotions and process them in a healthy way.

As someone who has lived with mental health challenges for my entire life, these are three emotions that I am very familiar with. Anger management was a struggle for me. Fear was an issue in my life along with how to manage grief. And while I used to think that they were bad emotions, I’ve since learned that they are important emotions that we need for success.

In this video, I’m going to share a few ways to reframe how you think about the difficult emotions like fear, grief, or anger you’re experiencing in life right now.

By learning to sit with your emotions and process them, you can turn them into powerful tools in your life.

The Mind Sweep Benefits: Take Control of Stress FAST

Mind Sweep Benefits: Take Control of Stress FAST! People are feeling an increased level of anxiety and stress once again. There are many uncertainties with the pandemic and the news headlines and adding that on top of the regular challenges that we face in life, it can feel like a lot to handle.

If we’re not careful and intentional, this stress and anxiety can become overwhelming and even lead to bigger mental health challenges like depression. Learning how to relieve stress and anxiety is important.

In this video, mental health speaker and corporate wellness specialist, Mike Veny, shares a simple but effective strategy that he learned about when reading the book Getting Things Done by David Allen. It’s called a Mind Sweep.

Doing a Mind Sweep is simple and something that you can do on a daily basis or when you feel your stress levels building up. In the video, you’ll learn the simple steps to doing a Mind Sweep and the benefits of doing it including how it can help you start to feel like you have some control over the stress in your life. And the best part is, there’s no wrong way to do it so you don’t have the added pressure of trying to figure out something else when you’re already stressed.

If your stress and anxiety have been feeling out of control or making it hard for you to focus on the things that you need to, this is a great strategy to use.

Self Care Hacks for Workplace Mental Health EFFECTIVE

Self Care Hacks for Workplace Mental Health EFFECTIVE

Self-care hacks in the workplace. This has been a stressful year which may have left you looking for tips on burnout, stress, anxiety, emotional wellness, and overall how to take care of your mental health. When I deliver presentations for workplace mental health, HR leaders are usually interested in learning simple tips to give employees to support their mental health. Here are a few of the Self Care Hacks for Workplace Mental Health that I share.

1. Encourage employees to talk about mental health. This doesn’t matter unless it comes from the top down. Leadership needs to start talking about their own mental health challenges to show employees that they can comfortably share without having to worry about negative repercussions.
2. Encourage work-life balance. Call it out when you see people struggling with balance. This is an area that everyone struggles. When you notice that someone is out of balance, ask them about it and encourage them to do the same for you.
3. Share free resources with employees. Use the link below to get a list of free resources you can share with your employees or coworkers.

Creating a self-care plan that you can use at work can help you keep self-care top of mind. And when you work on addressing your own self-care, it can encourage others to do the same.

If that support isn’t enough, I deliver Transforming sTigma in the Workplace and How to Find Peace in Times of Uncertainty to learn more about my presentations.

Youth Mental Health in the COVID-19 Pandemic [SHOCKING]

Youth Mental Health in the COVID-19 Pandemic [SHOCKING]

Youth mental health has become an increasingly popular focus for society over the past two decades. Youth mental health in the COVID-19 pandemic has pushed this topic to a whole new level. Mental health issues in youth are increasing at an alarming rate. The two most common issues are youth depression and youth anxiety.

NBC News affiliate WJFW interviewed Mike Veny to gain a better understanding of what’s really going on.

Both depression in children and anxiety in children are subjects that Mike Veny understands well. As a child, he struggled with both. Nowadays, he’s a school motivational speaker who is on a mission to support people in receiving the gift of emotional wellness. He delivers high school mental health presentations live and virtually.

In this video, Mike says that journaling and doing a “brain dump” are good mental health activities for youth. Another thing that Mike recommends, which is not in this video is investing in youth mental health first aid.

Teen mental health issues are at an all time high right now so it’s critical that we get them the help they need in order to prevent teen suicide. This is why school mental health needs to become a top priority right now. Establishing and maintaining a solid school mental health program is necessary in order to give youth the support they need right now.

Ultimately, teen suicide prevention is not just a schools responsibility. It’s everyone’s responsibility. It’s important that all youth have mentally healthy adults in their lives. Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, adults have been struggling with their own mental health and this is taking a toll on youth.

In his work as youth motivational speaker, Mike Veny is committed to helping children and teenagers navigate this uncertain time. He truly believes that if we are intentional about working together, we can through this difficult time and be mentally well.
