How to Address Reopening Anxiety in the Workplace
Today I’m going to share some thoughts on what your workplace needs to do for employee mental wellness when reopening during the pandemic.
In fact, in this video, I’m going to break down some of the biggest concerns that companies are facing with employee mental health as they reopen and some of the most important things to consider.
With that, here’s a quick overview of what’s in the video:
When it comes to workplace mental health and emotional wellness right now, people are all across the spectrum. People struggled pre-coronavirus and now there are even more mental health challenges facing the workforce.
Everyone has experienced trauma at this point and there are different levels of anxiety. Some people believe everyone should be wearing face masks. Others believe it’s unnecessary. Some are ready for the world to reopen and others think we need to be waiting longer.
Here’s the thing—there is no right or wrong in this situation. We’re all figuring it out as we go. People have experienced loss. Loss of loved ones, income, social life, and being in the world. Everyone has a unique situation. Keeping this in mind can make all the difference as you have conversations with those around you.
And companies have the opportunity to move forward while creating a culture that supports employees. One way to do this is by focusing on workplace mental health and wellness.
In short, this video will show you actionable ways to support your employees during the reopening phase in 2020.

http://www.TransformingStigma.com In this news segment on the talk show, Fresh Outlook, mental health speaker, Mike Veny addresses the correlation between gun violence and mental illness. This has been a hot topic in the media because of terrorist attacks and mass shootings.
Mike was invited to be on this show in response to President Barack Obama’s recent Executive Order on gun laws. The Executive Order includes mental health funding. Mike firmly believes that this is no correlation between the status of ones mental health and gun violence. He argues that if someone wants to harm others, then they will decided to. This is not a mental health issue. Correlating mental illness and gun violence increases the stigma surrounding mental health.
At the same time, Mike is glad that the subject of mental health is being discussed more these days. He believes that House Speaker Paul Ryan and Congress needs to support a bill for increased mental health funding. “Ulimately,” says Veny, “mental health is an a economic issue. If people are mentally healthier, they will be more productive in society. This has a positive effect on everyone.”
In this video, host Logan Crawford and him go back and forth about where to draw the line with background checks. As the show goes on, there are a variety of opinions on how to solve the gun violence problem here in the United States of America. Additional guests include Jackie Guzda, Bill Rosenberg, and Lance Simmens. Each guest offers a unique perspective on what must be done to address these issues.
