http://www.TransformingStigma.Com/how-to-find-a-good-therapist.html How to find a good therapist!
In this video, mental health stigma expert and speaker, Mike Veny talks about how to find a good therapist. As a person who has been hospitalized in a psychiatric hospital 3 times and been in and out of therapy for most of his life, Mike has learned a thing or two about getting good help.
One of the easiest ways to find a good therapist is to ask a friend for a referral. The challenging part about this for most people, however, is feeling uncomfortable letting anyone know about struggling with a mental health challenge. When it comes to other services, such as auto repair or a dentist, we don’t hesitate to ask friends for referrals.
Whether or not the therapist that you try was from a referral or not, you should be able to tell within 2 or 3 sessions if that particular therapist is a fit for you. Regardless of what anyone says about what you want to look for, it comes down to a gut feeling about that person being a good fit for you. You’ll know it when you find it.
Also, your therapists can change over time. Sometimes a therapist that was initially a good fit for you no longer fits you. Like many relationships in life, you may outgrow the relationship and that’s a wonderful thing. Keep in mind that there as many different types of therapy as there are therapists out there. Mike Veny has had sessions with psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and licensed counselors. Each type of therapy and therapist brought something unique to the table.

How to Be an Effective Anti Racism Advocate
Today you’re going to learn EXACTLY what you can do to be an effective anti-racism advocate.
In fact, in this video, I’m going to share with you a few things that you can put into action right away to fight racism in 2020.
With that, here’s a quick overview of what’s in the video:
Even though I’m an advocate, I’ve been quiet on social media about racism. Lots of people are sharing where they stand, what they think, and what you should (or shouldn’t) be doing and saying. This is a difficult time and we need real change.
Some of the things that I share in the video about advocacy include:
• Why the days of the angry advocate are over
• The importance of having real conversations with people who think differently from you
• The phrases that we can use in conversations to help us understand another person’s perspective
• Why you may be wasting your time sharing ideas on social media
• Why I love being an American
• My thoughts about why we need our police officers
• The role that listening plays in connecting with others
In short, this video will show you actionable steps that you can take to effectively advocate against racism in 2020.

Mental Health Stigma & Mental Illness Stigma 2020 (True Story)

http://www.TransformingStigma.Com/effects-of-stigma-on-mental-illness.html In this video, Mike Veny, is speaking about the stigma surrounding mental health and mental illness to raise awareness for professionals at a conference. Mike Veny is a mental health speaker and the founder of http://www.TransformingStigma.Com.
Examples of stigma include thinking that mental illness is correlated with violence. Statistics show that people with mental illness are more likely to have a violent crime committed against them than committing a violent crime. In addition, people who live with mental illness experience employment discrimination.
Search online to learn more about the survey results of mental health provider-based stigma and understanding the experience of clients and families. We need to have more discussion regarding this issue. It’s time to change our cultural paradigm and campaign to transform stigma.
Australia and Canada are setting the example for transforming stigma. In Canada, the company Bell is doing a incredible job of increasing awareness through it’s “Let’s Talk” campaign. Bell is setting a good example for how business can help transform stigma.
Mental health stigma is in the military (and is experienced by veterans), in the media, at work, in healthcare and just about everywhere in America. Believe it or not, it exists in social work, too. In fact, it affects everyone including mental professionals.
In the United States of America, stigma is a huge problem in the black community. African Americans are experiencing difficulties in having conversations about mental health with each other. Despite these challenges, there is hope. NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) is working hard to address the stigma surrounding minority mental health as a whole.
This issue spans across cutures, too – mental health stigma is in the Muslim community, Hong Kong, Jamaica, Kenya, New Zealand, Northern Ireland, Scotland, Wales, and China.

Are You Stuck In the Cycle of Mental Health Stigma?
Are you in the cycle of mental health stigma? Learning the cycle of mental health stigma is an important step to mental health awareness.
I’ve struggled since childhood with my mental health because of depression and a few other mental health disorders. Even after discovering that drumming helped me manage my depression and some of my other symptoms, the challenges continued to be there.
I eventually realized that I needed to learn how to address my mental health challenges AND the interior stigma I was wrestling with. Through my research, I learned about the cycle of mental health stigma and the negative impact it was having on my life.
In this video, I share about the three stages of mental health stigma. Understanding how the cycle works can play an important role in your road to recovery.
The cycle of mental health stigma includes:
1. Shame
2. Silence
3. Sabotage
When you start learning to recognize and address the cycle in your life, it’s the first step to breaking the hold that stigma creates.
Now as a keynote mental health speaker and Certified Corporate Wellness Specialist, I work to help others break free from the stigma cycle too.

The 2015 Haiti Entrepreneurship Camp

http://www.UnleashYourGroove.Com/2015-haiti-entrepreneurship-camp.html Most of Haiti’s population lives “multidimensional poverty,”. This means that they face constant challenges with getting their basic health needs met, an adequate education, and have poor living conditions.
“When I first arrived in Haiti, I was shocked,” says Veny. “You read about Haiti and watch news reports, but seeing this firsthand touched my heart. We have a real problem on our hands.”
In 2014, Mike Veny presented a workshop on marketing, networking and selling to the first annual Haiti Entrepreneurship Camp. Mike volunteered to teach at the camp through meeting Jan Holz at the Rotary Club of Wall Street. He wanted to use the skills that helped grow his business to help the Haitian entrepreneurs grow theirs.
The Haiti Entrepreneurship camp has a clear mission: Empowering local entrepreneurs and their communities.Their vision is to “Exchange knowledge and build relationships with entrepreneurs to turn around struggling economies and empower them to develop prosperous independent communities.”
“Everyone loves to talk about the health of the world economy,” says Veny. “Through empowering entrepreneurs in the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere, we are making tomorrow’s world economy healthier.”
Although the economy is steadily improving in Haiti, it’s still struggling from the destruction of the 2010 earthquake. “It’s important that we empower people before the next natural disaster happens.”
“There is so much that needs to be done,” says Veny. “This is an incredibly slow process and it’s important to understand that you may not even see tangible results from your efforts in this lifetime. However, it’s important to keep supporting Haiti, even if the results manifest long after your time here on this earth.”
The 2015 Haiti Entrepreneurship Camp will be held at Université Quisqueya in partnership with Rotary Club de Delmas-Aeroport, HelpAlliance, Devoted Servants, Lufthansa Consulting, Lufthansa Group, and local financial support.
Through Mike’s GoFundMe campaign, you help support the growth of the world economy through empowering Haitian entrepreneurs.
