Today you’re going to learn EXACTLY how to schools can start to better support the mental wellness of their students (step-by-step).
In fact, in this video, I’m going to tell you exactly what would have helped me when I was struggling with mental health challenges in school.
With that, here’s a quick overview of what’s in the video:
We have a serious problem with mental health within the United States and within our schools. Over the past 20 years, the youth suicide rate around the world has been declining except for in the United States where it has increased. That’s a problem.
And, it’s not just mental health in high school that needs to be addressed. As a young child, I was expelled from three schools. I was admitted to mental hospitals three times for extended stays, I self-harmed, and I attempted suicide. These experiences have provided me with a unique perspective now as an adult on how we can better address mental health in schools.
There are three things, which I discuss in more detail during the video, that I think schools can do to start to turn the situation around.
Everyone in the school community needs to take responsibility for mental wellness.
Cultivate a culture of self-care and teach social skills.
Educate everyone on mental wellness.
Many schools think they need to rely on things like grants for mental health in school in order to make a change, but there are many free resources that are readily available to everyone (see the link below).
Mental health awareness is the key factor needed to help make a change. We can’t just rely on things like screening for mental health in schools. We all need to take responsibility to make the change.
In short, this video will show you actionable ways to begin changing the mental health culture within your school in 2019.

Today you’re going to find out EXACTLY why I do the mental health work that I do.
In fact, in this video, I’m going to tell you a little about my own struggle with mental health in school.
With that, here’s a quick overview of what’s in the video:
I’m a mental health speaker with a uniques perspective. I don’t work in the mental health field because I have advanced degrees in health and wellness. I do it because I have personal experience with mental health challenges. I’ve had them for as long as I can remember.
I was “that kid” in school. The poorly behaved one that caused problems. There are multiple stories that I wish didn’t happen, including one that I share in this video and in my keynote sessions as a school mental health speaker.
Mental health challenges like depression are often something that you don’t just realize that you’re dealing with. They involve thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. In the video, I describe the way that most people realize there is a problem.
I came from a great home and had a family that did the best they could for me. But life has pain in it. That’s the reality. And, if you don’t know how to properly deal with some of those situations it can make it a real struggle. However, knowing how to deal with pain and struggle isn’t something that we naturally know how to do. Students need guidance in this area. And, after dealing with my own personal struggles, I want to be a mental health speaker for high schools that actually helps make a difference for those that are struggling.
In short, this video will learn my heart behind the work that I do and how it can benefit your school in 2019.

Today you’re going to learn EXACTLY how you can improving teaching method to help improving the mental health of your students (step-by-step).
In fact, in this video, I’m going to share with you an area of professional development for teachers that shouldn’t be ignored.
With that, here’s a quick overview of what’s in the video:
Mental health is a topic that’s gaining more attention in society. It’s much needed and long overdue attention. The alarming statistics around youth suicide paint a bleak picture for the United States. Schools are trying to address it and teach students how to be mentally well. But it’s also important that you as a teacher or administrator focuses on your mental wellness as well. When you do, you inspire your students to follow in your behavior.
I was that kid in your class that’s always causing you a headache. The one that is constantly acting up and crossing the line. I had mental health challenges, was expelled from multiple schools, hospitalized for my mental health, and even attempted suicide. It’s a good reminder that you never really know what’s going on behind the scenes.
When I do professional development for teacher workshops, I share my personal story so you can see what’s behind the behavior. This can give you a new perspective for interacting with and helping your students going forward.
It’s also important that you address your own mental health. Teaching is a stressful position and one that requires you to have a lot of self-awareness when interacting with your students and coworkers. My sessions address all of this.
In short, this video will show you actionable ways that you and your school can be helped by a professional development session on mental health in 2019.

Today you’re going to learn EXACTLY how to diversity and inclusion are influenced by mental health.
In fact, in this video, I’m going to explain why I think that mental health should be addressed as the foundation of diversity and inclusion efforts in the workplace.
With that, here’s a quick overview of what’s in the video:
Diversity and Inclusion is a popular topic that’s frequently making headlines. Companies are doing their best with diversity and inclusion training to address things like stereotypes and biases in order to make sure everyone feels included and supported.
But I would argue that something is still missing and that thing is addressing the mental health of those in the workplace. I believe that mental health is the forgotten part of D&I. And to really succeed with diversity and inclusion best practices, we need to make mental health awareness the base of it. Here’s why:
People challenges and mental health challenges go hand-in-hand
Delegation efforts are impacted by your mental health and unknown biases
Addressing your mental health helps you become more self-aware which is a key to fixing diversity and inclusion in the workplace
Fear of offending others can stem from stereotypes and biases we don’t realize that we have
There is a mistaken belief that therapists are just for those struggling with a diagnosed mental health disorder. In reality, a therapist can help in many ways as I discuss in the video.
Mental health impacts both productivity and profitability. Making sure that your people are emotionally well will go a long way in helping you get your diversity and inclusion efforts off the ground.
In short, this video will give you a few actionable ways that you can address mental health to improve D&I efforts.
