Becoming a Paid Speaker: Importance of Details in Your Presentation
Today you’re going to get a behind the scenes look at me working with my speaking coach, Paul Kreiter. If you want to know how to become a public speaker, this series is for you!
In fact, in this video, Paul shares the importance of focusing on the details when creating content for my mental health presentations.
With that, here’s a quick overview of what’s in the video:
With the new presentation tips that I’ve learned from Paul, I want to start rewriting my speech. However, in the midst of moving things around and repurposing my content, Paul stresses the importance of focusing on the details in order to be more effective.
You’ll get to hear the “peanut butter and jelly sandwich” analogy that Paul uses to school me on what happens if you don’t include the small, important details. As you’ll hear, intentional details completely transform a story.
In short, this video will show you actionable ways that you can improve the opening on your presentations in 2020.

Awkward Conversations in Mental Health
Today you’re going to learn EXACTLY how to talk about mental health.
In fact, in this video, I’m going to explain why it’s OK to have awkward conversations and just how to do it.
With that, here’s a quick overview of what’s in the video:
If you talk about mental health it’s going to feel awkward. Sorry, not sorry. Talking about mental health leads to awkward conversations. That doesn’t mean it’s bad and it doesn’t mean you shouldn’t talk about it. In fact, the more awkward a mental health conversation is, the more effective it is. And, that’s what we need for mental health awareness and to help with things like suicide prevention.
But, I get that as people, we don’t like to feel uncomfortable. We worry about the awkward. But, it’s time to embrace it and get a little awkward. And, in this video I give pointers on how to talk about mental health. Here are some things that you will learn:
Mental health conversation starters that you can use in your everyday life
Why you need to learn how to shut up and listen
Why mental health conversation questions need to be open-ended
What things you should AVOID saying
When you follow the tips that are provided in this video, not only will you become more comfortable talking about mental health in general, but you’ll know how to check up on the loved ones in your life and let them know that you care.
Remember, it’s not just you. Mental health conversations are awkward. Embrace it and go for it!
In short, this video will show you actionable ways to start having more conversations about mental health in 2019.
