Why Is It So Hard To Let Yourself Grieve?
http://www.mikeveny.com
Why is it so hard to let yourself grieve? In this video, Mike Veny explains why it’s so hard to let yourself grieve or even give yourself permission to grieve.
Mike Veny is a Certified Corporate Wellness Specialist®, author, mental health speaker, course instructor and the CEO of Mike Veny, Inc.
WARNING: He’s not a mental health professional. If you are thinking of harming yourself, someone else or are in need of medical help, please consult a doctor. If you are in an emergency, please call 911.
In this video, he discusses the following:
1 – Control and grief. If you’ve ever thought, “Why is it difficult for me to cry?”, you need to understand this.
2 – Not being ready to grieve.
Mike has been mentored, by Jon Terrell, a therapist who specializes in dealing with difficult emotions. Mike began a relationship with him after attending one of his emotional healing retreats. Through this life-changing experience with grief work, he learned that it was less about dealing with difficult emotions and more about working with difficult emotions. Also, he no longer believes that men can’t cry.
The grieving process is extremely difficult. It’s important to learn how to grieve a loss, how to grieve a relationship or how to grieve death. Letting yourself cry is important, but you first must give yourself permission to grieve.

Remote Workplace Strategies for Mental Health in 2021
Even with many people returning to work, working from home and remote work is here to stay for many people. But as we move to this becoming part of normal life instead of life during a pandemic, it’s important that we learn how to protect our mental health and emotional wellness while working from home.
The strategies that we need to use are a little different than the traditional workplace strategies for mental health. In this video I share three things that can help you remain mentally stable and emotionally well if you work remotely:
Setting boundaries with family members and coworkers – This includes learning how to put lines into relationships to know where your “yes” and “no” are. It’s something many of us were never taught how to do.
Finding creative ways to create space for yourself – You may need to “sneak out” for a few minutes to practice self-care from time to time.
Developing rituals to use at the end of the workday – These can help you signal to your brain that the workday is over while you transition to your personal time and space. I share how I do this from my NYC apartment.
So whether you say you’re “working from home” or “living at work”, these tips can help you find peace and protect your mental health in the process.

Youth Mental Health in the COVID-19 Pandemic [SHOCKING]
Youth mental health has become an increasingly popular focus for society over the past two decades. Youth mental health in the COVID-19 pandemic has pushed this topic to a whole new level. Mental health issues in youth are increasing at an alarming rate. The two most common issues are youth depression and youth anxiety.
NBC News affiliate WJFW interviewed Mike Veny to gain a better understanding of what’s really going on.
Both depression in children and anxiety in children are subjects that Mike Veny understands well. As a child, he struggled with both. Nowadays, he’s a school motivational speaker who is on a mission to support people in receiving the gift of emotional wellness. He delivers high school mental health presentations live and virtually.
In this video, Mike says that journaling and doing a “brain dump” are good mental health activities for youth. Another thing that Mike recommends, which is not in this video is investing in youth mental health first aid.
Teen mental health issues are at an all time high right now so it’s critical that we get them the help they need in order to prevent teen suicide. This is why school mental health needs to become a top priority right now. Establishing and maintaining a solid school mental health program is necessary in order to give youth the support they need right now.
Ultimately, teen suicide prevention is not just a schools responsibility. It’s everyone’s responsibility. It’s important that all youth have mentally healthy adults in their lives. Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, adults have been struggling with their own mental health and this is taking a toll on youth.
In his work as youth motivational speaker, Mike Veny is committed to helping children and teenagers navigate this uncertain time. He truly believes that if we are intentional about working together, we can through this difficult time and be mentally well.

Mental Health Conversation Starters & Questions

http://www.TransformingStigma.Com In this video, Mike Veny talks about the importance of keeping the subject of mental health in everyday conversation and your community. This is the key to transforming the silence that accompanies mental health stigma.
There’s no right or wrong way to have conversations about mental health. Mike Veny tried an experiment for an entire year. He decided to go around and introduce himself to every single person he met and let them know that he was mentally ill. To his surprise, no one got scared and ran away from him. He actually developed deeper relationships, got hired for more work, and more women showed interest in him than ever before.
Here are some tips for developing your own conversation starters and questions.
1. Recognize that this is an uncomfortable conversation and you don’t have to be an expert to talk about it. If it were an easy conversation, you wouldn’t be watching this video or reading these words. The only way that we, as a society, will develop this into an easy conversation, is to simply have it.
2. Learn healthy, appropriate, respectful, and “people first” vocabulary. This simply means that when you talk about it, put the person before the mental health challenge in your language. For example, avoid saying “the mentally ill”. Instead say, “people who live with a mental illness.”
3. Take the lead by asking others how you can support them and LISTEN! When someone you know is struggling with a mental health challenge, it’s CONFUSING! People who struggle aren’t always looking for answers or to vent. Most of the time they are looking for empathy. Even if you can’t comprehend what someone is struggling with, do your absolute best to see it from their perspective and validate that.

http://www.MikeVeny.com In this new segment from Fresh Outlook news, Mike Veny shares his thoughts on the 2016 Oscar Academy Awards. This highly anticipated event of 2016 had so much controversy leading up to it.
The controversy surrounded the lack of black actors nominated for awards.
In Mike’s opinion, comedian Chris Rock did the best he could to poke fun at the elephant in the room (the racial controversy), although some said he took it too far.
He also believes that Lady Gaga’s performance was the highlight of the evening.
