Why Is It So Hard To Let Yourself Grieve?
http://www.mikeveny.com
Why is it so hard to let yourself grieve? In this video, Mike Veny explains why it’s so hard to let yourself grieve or even give yourself permission to grieve.
Mike Veny is a Certified Corporate Wellness Specialist®, author, mental health speaker, course instructor and the CEO of Mike Veny, Inc.
WARNING: He’s not a mental health professional. If you are thinking of harming yourself, someone else or are in need of medical help, please consult a doctor. If you are in an emergency, please call 911.
In this video, he discusses the following:
1 – Control and grief. If you’ve ever thought, “Why is it difficult for me to cry?”, you need to understand this.
2 – Not being ready to grieve.
Mike has been mentored, by Jon Terrell, a therapist who specializes in dealing with difficult emotions. Mike began a relationship with him after attending one of his emotional healing retreats. Through this life-changing experience with grief work, he learned that it was less about dealing with difficult emotions and more about working with difficult emotions. Also, he no longer believes that men can’t cry.
The grieving process is extremely difficult. It’s important to learn how to grieve a loss, how to grieve a relationship or how to grieve death. Letting yourself cry is important, but you first must give yourself permission to grieve.

Prostate Cancer: The Prostate Exam Stigma Among Men Of Color
In this informative video, patient advocate Mike Veny sits down with Tyrone Brewer, President of US Oncology for Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine division, to discuss the crucial issue of prostate cancer among men of color. Together, they delve into important topics such as the stigma surrounding prostate cancer among men of color, mental health implications for cancer patients, and the significance of health literacy among men of color.
Tyrone also shares his experience working with Shannon Sharpe, a well-known public figure who battled prostate cancer and kept his diagnosis private. Additionally, they stress the importance of regular prostate exams, which can greatly reduce the likelihood of prostate cancer becoming terminal. This conversation is especially relevant as Mike Veny and Tyrone Brewer participated in the 2024 Blue Jacket Fashion Show for Zero Prostate Cancer, sponsored by Johnson & Johnson. Don’t miss this eye-opening discussion about prostate cancer and overall health among men of color.
NOTE: Tyrone Brewer is walking the runway at the Blue Jacket Fashion Show, and Mike Veny was an attendee.
Mike Veny understands stigma well, especially the mental health stigma in the black community. He hopes that men who want to prevent prostate cancer watch this video and schedule a prostate exam.

#1 Healthcare Speaker & Patient Expert 2020 (Actionable!)
Today you’re going to learn the ONE THING you should be focused on as a caregiver or healthcare worker before anything else.
In fact, in this video, I share with you the one question you should be asking yourself on a regular basis.
With that, here’s a quick overview of what’s in the video:
I’ve struggled with mental health challenges for as long as I can remember. That’s why I work as a mental health speaker and healthcare speaker and writer to help end the stigma that surrounds mental health. My life’s all about helping others. As a healthcare worker or caregiver, this is something that you understand. You probably got into the work that you do for the exact same reason – you want to help and care for others.
But it’s easy to get so focused on caring for others that you forget to care for yourself. There is a misconception that it’s selfish to put yourself first, but as I explain in this video, that’s not the case.
Putting yourself first helps you to show up better for those that you are serving. If you want to be an expert patient caregiver, it’s necessary to take care of yourself. When you are burnt out, you aren’t able to offer those you care for the same level of care. Taking care of yourself first is one of the most selfless things that you can do.
This is the message that needs to be spread around the healthcare industry and that’s one reason I find the work I do as a health speaker so rewarding. It’s what motivates me to take care of myself so I can better serve my audience working with healthcare in the speakers’ bureau, as a pharmaceutical speaker, or speaking for any other healthcare event.
In short, this video will show you why you need to put yourself and one step you can take to make that happen.
